    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern for our office in Oakland, CA.

    _ This position is expected to begin in May 2023._

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

    • Interns are responsible for performing specific tasks and limited portions of broader assignments and will receive close supervision, guidance, and mentoring from experienced engineers in the office.
    • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
    • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study

    GENERAL DUTIES

    • Assisting in planning subsurface investigations.
    • Assisting in performing engineering analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations.
    • Assisting in preparing geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
    • Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team
    • General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries.
    • Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work. An intern is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.
    • Non-Exempt Positions: Offered rate of compensation (CA) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $26-30 per hour.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.
    • Must have completed 3 years of study in applicable program
    • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications

    Additional Information

    • Relocation is not available for this position
    • Some travel may be required
    • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.  The hourly range for this position is $26 - $36/hr.
