Job Description
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Work with a team of Project managers, Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies, transportation drainage design, and several other water resources projects
Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses to comply with FEMA guidelines and specifications
Perform one-dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
Efficiently work with ArcGIS software in support of floodplain modeling and mapping
Prepare project reports including engineering calculations, research, planning and technical engineering reports
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Minimum Requirements :
Qualifications
Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
Ability to multi-task
Masters degree in Water Resources Engineering or closely related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
Strong spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including technical report writing
Strong analytical and computation skills
Knowledge of civil engineering design principles
A mature sense of professional responsibility and awareness of accepted standards of professional behavior.
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
