    The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data, and evaluating regulatory standards for protection of human and ecological receptors. Strong organizational and technical writing skills are imperative for this position. Relevant experience effectively using Microsoft Office Suite programs when preparing reports is also required.

    Work activities will involve preparation and review of investigation reports, management of data, preparation of data summary tables, and interpretation of analytical results. Other activities will likely include conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and coordinating  the collection and analysis of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor samples. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Independently prepare high-quality technical reports including Phase I and II ESA reports in accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards or other applicable state regulatory programs, including the Ohio Voluntary Action Program.
    • Assist Project Managers with budget and scope preparation, procurement, development of work plans and overall coordination of a variety of project management tasks related to new and on-going projects.
    • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Analyze and apply solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues using standard operating procedures/methodologies as a basis and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
    • Complete Phase I and Phase II ESAs for due diligence and planned remediation projects.
    • Assist with examining and describing soil samples and interpreting geologic and hydrogeologic conditions.
    • Proactively recognize and appropriately address health and safety issues for project team.
    • Work under only general direction. Independently determine and develop approach to solutions.  
    • Solve problems by use of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
    • Participate in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
    • Coordinate and assist more junior staff members with project planning, data collection, and reporting.
    • Assist with surface and subsurface investigations that employ soil borings, test pits, well installations, soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, aquifer testing, and geophysical surveys.
    • Manage and summarize field and laboratory analytical data.
    • Provide technical support for human and ecological risk assessments.
    • Drive quality control of assigned tasks or small segments of a project.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science degree in geology or relevant geological science discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, or geochemistry).
    • Minimum 4 years of environmental investigation or remediation experience needed.
    • Valid Driver's license.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Preferred 8+ years of environmental investigation or remediation experience.

    • Experience with Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, site characterization, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects at various client sites.

    • Experience with soil, groundwater, vapor, and stormwater field collection methods.

    • Experience applying geological knowledge to monitoring and subsurface investigations in office settings.

    • Possess strong technical report writing skills and prepare and/or lead the preparation of investigation reports.

    • Support Project Managers on multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and confirm quality standards on project deliverables.

    • Experience with independently performing field work and leading field teams.

    • Ability to clearly communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, and clients during project activities.

    • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certificate or annual refresher certificate.

    • First Aid/CPR certificate.

    • Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
