    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a self-motivated Project Manager in our Chelmsford, MA office to lead a variety of projects. The successful candidate will lead the field and office. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports and the management of data. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety is imperative. 

    Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, those listed below:

    • Manages a portfolio of clients with multiple projects. 
    • Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects.
    • Consistently delivers profit margins planned. 
    • Consistently completes projects without write-downs or multiplier erosion. 
    • Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).
    • Manages more complex clients and projects. 
    • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such. 
    • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims.
    • Supervises and directs Project Managers with multiple projects or programs of projects.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field with 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Must be able to pass a background check
    • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

    • 10+ years’ experience in environmental investigation and remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions) project management
    • Professional License (PE, PG)
    • Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree
    • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
    • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for Federal clients (USACE, AFCEC, Navy)
    • Thorough working knowledge of CERCLA
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills
    • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
    • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
    • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders
    • Interest in business development
    • Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects
    • Occasional overnight travel required
