    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Geologist Intern to be based in our Austin, TX office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.

    This position is expected to begin May/June 2023, with an expected duration of 3-4 months.

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    The Geologist Intern III will support our Remediation team both in the field and office. We are seeking a motivated candidate who would like to develop and advance in an environmental remediation career. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable, and have good interpersonal communication skills.

    The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

    • Supports investigation and remediation projects for various clients.
    • Under direct supervision, conducts field investigations, monitoring and assessments.
    • Assist with the field investigation preparation, including preparing project safety plans.
    • Assist with post-field data entry and report writing.
    • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
    • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
    • Intern III – completion of 3rd year of qualified study (anticipated completion of 3rd year of qualified study in 2023).

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program for Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or another related field
    • Must have completed 3 years of study in relevant degree program
    • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
    • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to travel up to 75% to various job sites in and near Michigan.
    • Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings.
    • Support project staff with carrying out fieldwork (water, soil and/or air sampling) is considered an asset.
    • Strong writing abilities.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, and CADD).

    • Candidates will be asked to submit to a MVR (motor vehicle record) screening and/or medical surveillance screening at the time of hire.
