    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly skilled and proficient Civil Engineer for immediate employment in the Conshohocken, PA office in a full-time role. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment in both in-person and virtual (telework) settings. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while collaborating with a team comprised of a variety of technical staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, solar and other renewables, and other focus areas.

    This person will be part of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team and use their civil engineering and design experience, leadership, and critical thinking skills to lead other civil engineers and technical staff to support our clients and AECOM’s project teams. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in a challenging environment, be flexible on schedule to meet project deadlines, meet billable hours goals and have attention to detail, and provide a broad range of civil engineering skills and quality control (QA/QC) capabilities.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead a team of junior engineers to develop, prepare, and complete civil engineering plans, calculations, and other design elements to support permit applications in multiple states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, and others in the mid-Atlantic area.
    • Provide certified and licensed sign-off of plan drawings and permit applications at the licensed professional (Professional Engineer) and complete technical qualify reviews of the permit applications and plan drawings.
    • Prepare and/or oversee permit application preparation for NPDES Stormwater for Construction; SWPPPs, Grading and Drainage Plans, Stormwater Management, infiltration testing and reporting, as-built drawings such as stormwater management plans.
    • Attend agency meetings on behalf of AECOM and our clients.
    • Perform field work for stormwater management facilities installation inspections, permit terminations, erosion and sediment control, infiltration testing and other field work.
    • Perform quality assurance of civil engineering data and design components.
    • Work with the EPP team on a variety of utility construction and environmental impact assessment projects, as the Civil Engineering technical lead and quality reviewer.
    • Mentor and train junior civil engineering staff, resolve technical issues and assist with other staff with troubleshooting.
    • Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation, including quality control documentation.
    • Coordinate with internal teams such as cultural resources, ecologists, GIS staff, geologists, and other technical experts.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA/BS degree In Civil Engineering, or a related field +6 years of Civil Engineering-related project work, civil site design, drainage, water resources, permit requirements, or other relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania.
    • In depth knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3-D, HEC-RAS, and other software.
    • The position may require periodic travel (including overnight), extended work hours, working remotely, evening or weekend work hours.
    • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
    • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional Engineer license in other mid-Atlantic states (NJ, DE, MD, VA, OH)
    • Experience working with electric utility, natural gas, and/or renewable energy clients.
    • In depth knowledge of civil site design processes (grading, cut/fill analysis, drainage and stormwater management designs, erosion and sediment control, etc.).
    • Utility permitting and design experience, technical writing capabilities, and working knowledge of state environmental regulations and requirements.
    • Staff training or mentoring experience in a multidisciplinary civil engineering role.
    • High degree of self and team motivation and performance.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent and relevant references.

    • Offered rate of compensation (Pennsylvania) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $92,869.86- $132,340/yr.
