Job Description

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated experienced Hydrogeologist or Geologist for our Orange and Long Beach offices. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, evaluation of hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in Southern California.  Projects include large Federal clients, Refineries, and numerous commercial clients.  The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
• Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc. 
• Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists. 
• Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge. 
• Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis. 
• Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Works under general supervision.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
• 2 years of experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to gain access to DoD project sites and South California Refineries
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Professional Geologist License
• Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work
• Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification
• Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and other regulatory agencies
