    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planning Intern for employment in the San Diego, CA office.

    This part-time position is expected to begin May/June 2023, with an expected duration of 2-3 months.

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    The Environmental Planning Intern will support our Impact, Assessment & Permitting team within our Environment business line. Currently AECOM prepares environmental impact assessment for surface, air, and marine transportation, transit, water, power, oil and gas, and land development projects.

    The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills, and be highly client service focused. Most importantly, the candidate must have a positive attitude and a passion for learning and developing their skills as a planner. __

    The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

    • Interpret and record data, conduct research and analyses.
    • Contribute to environmental documents and compliance processes.
    • Provide appropriate support to AECOM multidisciplinary teams.
    • Assisting in developing solutions for tasks which may include: comprehensive planning and elements such as environmental impact assessment, environmental permitting, resource agency consultation and coordination, land use, transportation, capital improvements, infrastructure, and housing, among others.
    • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
    • This position is expected to be a part-time summer internship, however there may be flexibility to extend the hours or duration as reasonably discussed.
    • A candidate local to San Diego is preferred, however remote work or other locations may be considered.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Currently in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or other related field.
    • Candidate must have completed 2 years of study.
    • Due to the nature of the work, U.S Citizenship is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Highly motivated and accountable.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite as well as overall strong computer proficiency.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent technical writing, research, analytic, and/or graphic skills.
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental and permitting processes and regulatory requirements (e.g. CEQA, NEPA, and other relevant regulatory guidelines)

    • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $44,446 - $77,781.
