    Job Description

    The Urban + Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Federal Planning Intern for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office.

    This position is expected to begin in June 2023.

    The intern will serve on multi-disciplinary planning projects for mainly military installations and federal agencies as well as urban, community, and environmental projects. As part of the project team, the intern will assist in developing creative and innovative solutions to address clients’ issues including:

    • Compiling data and conducting research in support of project delivery
    • Creating graphics to support the planning documents
    • Playing a key role in the preparation of plans
    • Writing sections of planning reports and documents
    • Producing material for project meetings and workshops
    • Communicating effectively with project team and manager
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Possess B.A./B.S. in Urban Planning, and or academic studies in landscape architecture or sustainability/resiliency, architecture, geography, and/or GIS
    • On track to earn a master’s degree in Urban Planning, Regional planning or studies in landscape architecture or sustainability/resiliency, architecture, geography, and/or GIS
    • Experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Indesign and Illustrator

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience with AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro, and Photoshop
    • Must be one year from graduating with their Bachelor's degree
    • Entry level to one year of related experience with internships
    • Positive outlook and can-do attitude approach to tasks and teamwork
    • Exceptional writing, research, analysis and communication skills
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities
    • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
    • Efficient and organized worker with a high level of attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
    • Apt at developing creative and innovative graphics and project layout
    • Follows guidance well with little oversight
