    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking an Associate Principal, Landscape Architect. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work on our hybrid schedule being a combination of in office time and remote work. This leader will have a broad sphere of influence throughout the Northwest, with our preference to have this leader seated in San Francisco or Oakland, CA offices.

    Job Overview:

    The Associate Principal in Landscape Architecture holds a pivotal senior-level role, encompassing design leadership, project management, client interaction, and business development. Our expectation for leaders at this tier extends beyond their core responsibilities; they play a central role in mentoring junior and intermediate team members within the Landscape & Urban Planning and Design studio.

    Core areas of responsibility:

    • Strategic Leadership : Lead and oversee the development and implementation of design strategies within the Landscape Architecture practice across projects of varying magnitudes, steering concepts and ideas from initial pursuit through concept development to the creation of construction documentation and execution.
    • Business Development: Playing a pivotal role in building and sustaining strong client relationships throughout the West Region, actively participating in business development and marketing endeavors to secure new opportunities throughout the Northwest and Northern CA marketplace.
    • Design Expertise : Demonstrate exceptional design skills and a comprehensive understanding of landscape architecture principles, upholding a culture of collaboration and inclusivity in the design process, prioritizing exploration, iterative problem-solving, and sustainable design practices.
    • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging progressive technologies, and sustainable practices, integrating them into design approaches.
    • Project Management: Direct and manage complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables, budget adherence, and timely execution.
    • Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, effectively interpreting their needs and translating them into actionable design solutions.
    • Team Management: Nurturing and advancing the professional growth of junior and intermediate team members through creating challenging and inspiring environments, fostering a collective commitment to Design Excellence
    • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards in all design projects.
    • Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional communication skills in conveying design concepts, presenting proposals, and engaging with stakeholders.
    • Community Leadership: Acting as an ambassador within the community and relevant organizations, contributing to the enhancement of AECOM’s brand
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Min Qualifications:

    • 8 years of experience + Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university
    • 12+ years of working experience in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Master Planning
    • Strong preference for someone who understands the Northwest Region, inclusive of the Northern CA marketplace.
    • Possess professional registration, licensure or chartership with an internationally recognized professional association – CMLI / ASLA / ALIA.
    • Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality landscape enhancement and infrastructure improvement projects.
    • Strong computer skills and experience of the following software packages would be an advantage; AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Civils, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, NBS and Keyscapes.
    • Possess the initiative to conscientiously tackle tasks autonomously, employing a systematic problem-solving approach.
    • Excellent written communication and attention to detail, demonstrated experience in delivering technical drawings, specifications and reports.
    • Refined verbal communication skills, experience in liaising with clients and multi-disciplinary team members in a confident manner.

    Additional Information

    • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $190,000.
    • This role requires U.S. Citizenship and sponsorship is not available.
