    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an ENERGY PROJECT DEVELOPER to join our Alternate Delivery Energy Team. This team works on a variety of energy efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives for federal, municipal, utility, and commercial and industrial clients, including third party financed projects, energy-as-a-service offerings, and energy consulting. This position will perform technical and business development tasks on a variety of projects and opportunities including energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, energy master planning, district energy systems, net-zero buildings, monitoring base commissioning, transportation electrification, and building decarbonization.   The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed, detail-oriented individual with an excellent understanding of building mechanical systems, distributed energy resources (electric vehicles, solar photovoltaic, battery storage), energy system decarbonization, and alternate delivery project processes. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative energy projects and solutions that leverage the use of data analytics to identify, analyze, and specify energy reduction measures. The candidate should also be capable of making decisions independently under the guidance of senior staff. The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:  

    • Applying diversified knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields to solve technical problems.
    • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinating successful execution of projects
    • Providing technical leadership for energy projects.
    • Leading or participating in development of technical proposals.
    • Working with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing design schedules and budgets for engineering work activities and projects
    • Supporting business development activities as it relates to energy efficiency and decarbonization projects
    • Developing construction and equipment specifications and engineering drawing production
    • Engineering and energy savings calculations
    • Supporting performance engineering and M&V activities by identifying key parameters as it pertains to project risk mitigation and development of project M&V plans
    • Supporting projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, construction, start-up, and commissioning
    • Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
    • Participating in and presenting engineering work at client meetings
    • Interface with the clients to identify project needs, communicate engineering solutions, and strengthen client relationships.
    • Writing technical reports to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders
    • Training others to learn engineering management skills
    • Providing input to management on project resourcing and staff forecasting needs 
    • Prioritizing efforts to improve project productivity and quality delivered by the project team

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • BA/BS degree in Engineering and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
    • Travel is required for this position
    • Valid US Driver's License
    • US Citizenship is required

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    • 12+ years of experience
    • Master’s degree in technical or business discipline
    • PE license in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • Recognized credentials such as Certified Energy Manager and Certified Measurement and Verification from the Association of Energy Engineers
    • Experience with energy simulation software packages such as eQUEST/DOE-2 and EnergyPlus

    • Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,800.34 - $197,580.63 annually exempt.
