    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking to add a Water Resources Engineering Intern to our Germantown, MD office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sectors. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.

    This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
    • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
    • Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects.
    • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
    • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
    • Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design.
    • Sewer collection system evaluation and design.
    • Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
    • Candidates must have completed one year of study in their program.
    • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • GIS and CAD skills.
    • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
    • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
    • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
    • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.

    • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
    • Offered rate of compensation (Maryland locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $18.99 - $26.12/hr.
