    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Historic Preservation Intern for employment in our Burlington, NJ office.

    This position is expected to begin in May 2023.

    Job Overview:

    The Historic Preservation Intern will support our Remediation team in both the field and office. We are seeking motivated candidate who would like to develop and advance in a full-time environmental remediation career.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
    • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Must be currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, American Studies, Urban Studies, or related discipline or demonstrated equivalency of experience or education in a related field.
    • Must have completed one year of study.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1+ years of experience working with a variety of primary source materials that include historical maps, government documents, and deeds.
    • Strong analytical and research skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience identifying, evaluating, and interpreting primary and secondary source materials.
    • Familiarity with state and national cultural resource preservation laws, guidelines, practices, procedures, and products
    • Must be able to identify American architectural building styles, forms, and terms.
    • Must be able to write a clear and cogent architectural description using appropriate architectural terminology.
    • Must be able to perform basic research online and at physical repositories.
    • Must understand the basics of architectural photography.
    • Must have basic composition and proofreading skills.
