    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Intelligent Transportation System Engineer or Planner based in Denver, Colorado. This position offers opportunities to work on exciting, challenging, and high-profile ITS and emerging technology projects. This position will assist with a wide range of ITS related projects, including research, planning, design, and deployment of ITS and emerging technologies, including connected and automated vehicle technologies.

    Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

    • Works as part of a team and works independently in evaluating and applying ITS principles, standards, and criteria
    • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
    • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
    • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tasks
    • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
    • Identifies discrepancies in results
    • Provides guidance to entry level engineers
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
    • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
    • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position
    • Leads in the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency standards and specifications
    • Interacts directly with clients at project meetings
    • Adheres to project schedules, and budgets, and addresses issues in coordination with the PM
    • Prepares technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PE License or AICP Certification preferred
    • 3+ years of relevant experience
    • Experience with ITS, Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO), connected and automated vehicle technologies planning
    • Experience with systems engineering analysis
    • Prior DOT experience within the United States
    • Experience with traffic signal design
    • Experience with fiber and wireless network, CCTV, DMS design
    • Experience with preparing technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
    • Experience with MicroStation or similar software packages
    • Experience with PS&E package preparation for ITS/Signal design
    • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Google Earth

    Additional Information

    • Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61,000 - $113,000.
