    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Utility Coordinator Engineer to support NCDOT and municipal construction projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Use 811 service to identify utilities ownership and contact owners to gather information regarding existing utilities along project route.
    • Develop utility relocations strategies and provide coordination/relocation services to accomplish removal, relocation, and modification of utility facilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunication, etc.).
    • Send owners 25% roadway plans and schedule and conduct utility meetings with NCDOT and utility owners. Prepare meeting agendas and minutes.
    • Work closely with other design disciplines to determine most practical utility conflict resolutions.
    • Request and interpret Subsurface Utility Engineering data.
    • Determine cost responsibility (prior rights) and assist utility owners with preparation of construction requests, utility agreements, relocation plans, and relocation schedules.
    • Prepare Utility by Others (UBO) plans in MicroStation or Open Road Design per NCDOT requirements.
    • Perform QA/QC of utility relocation packages for submittal to NCDOT.
    • Prepare and/or review Encroachment Agreement Plans packages for submittal to NCDOT.
    • Prepare Environmental Permit drawings and narratives.
    • Attend field meetings and site investigations as required.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BA/BS or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • US Citizenship required due to the projects associated with this position

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience supporting NCDOT and municipal projects
    • Completion of NCDOT’s Highway Plan Reading course
    • NCDOT technician certifications for QMS Asphalt, Concrete, Level 2 Erosion Control and Conventional Density
    • Good written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers
    • 5+ years of transportation construction, CEI, or other civil inspection experience
    • Experience with Locally Administered Projects (LAP)
    • Experience supporting NCDOT and municipal projects
    • 2+ years of transportation construction experience
    • Ability to generate and provide daily and weekly reports in a timely fashion effectively communicating on site activities.
    • Ability to perform basic computations, calculations, and conversions.
