    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Geologist / Project Manager in our Raleigh or Charlotte, NC office. This full-time position within our Environmental group will lead a team to help manage a variety of oil and gas investigation/remediation projects with oversight from senior managers and technical experts.

    The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from more experienced Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.

    Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

    • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
    • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for small to mid-sized investigation/remediation projects
    • Building strong client relationships
    • Client and regulatory correspondence
    • Technical report writing and review
    • Analyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertise
    • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
    • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders
    • Coordinating work schedules with AECOM staff and subcontractors
    • Responsible for quality control of tasks
    • Mentor project Jr. staff
    • Will require some regional travel for field visits
    • Supervise up to 10 staff

    This position requires both office and field work; the successful candidate should expect to be out in the field up to 30% of the time mentoring junior staff. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. Construction tasks will include the abandonment or decommissioning of surface and subsurface facilities or related assets.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Soil Science, or closely related field.
    • 4+ years of relevant experience and/or equivalent of experience and/or education.
    • Valid driver's license, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PG or PE license
    • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting
    • 2 years of Project Management experience within environmental consulting and/or PMP training.
    • Experience working for clients in the oil and gas market sector
    • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies
    • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
