    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planner to be based in our Los Angeles, CA Office.

    ** JOB SUMMARY:**

    Responsible for the study and analysis different modes of transportation and environmental analyses which enables the development of transportation infrastructures and/or economic development. Provides recommendations to improve existing facilities and proposes and develops plans to add to capacity or to improve efficiency. Understands local/regional transportation planning processes and policies. May work on transport improvement plans, public transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning and implementation. Supports efforts such as comprehensive planning, neighborhood planning, public involvement and outreach activities, project development, air quality, travel demand forecasting and innovation to reduce congestion, pollution or the impact of vehicles in cities.

    ** JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    • Conducts transportation and environmental planning on major transportation infrastructure projects.
    • Serve as subject matter expert on a variety of environmental resource topics, including leading and directing staff to perform analysis and prepare documentation.
    • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities.
    • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products.
    • Staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function.
    • Monitors and ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws.
    • Oversees specialized planning functions, such as large-scale environmental studies.
    • Provides overall management of IE-related planning issues.
    • Advises the Planning Director on all planning-related matters.
    • Advises various councils, boards, commissions and elected officials in planning related issues
    • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities.
    • Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.

    ** MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

    • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    _ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:_

    • Masters in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
    • Demonstrated experience in preparing and managing CEQA/NEPA Environmental Clearance Documentation for Transit Infrastructure Projects.
    • Technical experience with Southern California Transportation Agencies.
    • Business Development experience, such as preparing proposals and or relationships with clients

    • Light travel may be required for this position.

    • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $129,000.
