    Job Description

    The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and hard-working professional to support regulatory compliance and safety of the hazardous waste program at Fort Belvoir.

    The qualified applicant will demonstrate experience and working knowledge of hazardous waste management and regulatory requirements. This is a full time, onsite position.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Conducting inspections of the 90-day storage facility and other hazardous waste satellite accumulation areas.
    • Accepting hazardous waste from satellite accumulation areas being turned in to the 90-day hazardous waste storage facility and maintaining digital inventories of wastes received.
    • Preparing hazardous waste, non-hazardous solid waste, and universal waste for disposal, reviewing hazardous waste shipping manifests prior to government signature, using the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Electronic Turn-in Documents system to prepare for shipment, and maintaining cradle to grave manifest records.
    • Using and supporting database applications and analytical tools to maintain digital records of hazardous waste documents and personnel and organization records.
    • Assisting with spill response through deploying absorbent materials, providing waste disposal guidance, and completing reporting.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA/BS degree or High School Diploma +4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
    • Must be a US Citizen capable of passing a National Agency Check, which will be required to gain access to Government IT Systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2+ years related experience supporting a federal facility.
    • Working knowledge of hazardous waste regulations found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 40, Parts 260 through 280 and 9 Virginia Administrative Code (VAC) 20-60-970 through 20-60-1480
    • Experience conducting daily operations of a hazardous waste program, including accepting and shipping hazardous waste, managing records, collecting data for RCRA biennial reports, characterizing waste, and labeling containers.
    • Military experience and familiarity with relevant military facilities and organizations.
    • Strong computer skills and ability to prepare and update reports and maintain digital records.
    • Effective time-management, strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
