    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a self-motivated experienced Geologist for our Oakland, CA office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, and evaluation of hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in California. Projects include large Federal clients, Refineries, and numerous commercial clients.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Manage field-based tasks of environmental investigation and remediation programs.
    • Oversee and lead well installation and sampling tasks, and able to communicate with PMs.
    • Data management, evaluation and report writing with experience drafting environmental investigation and closure reports.
    • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
    • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
    • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education. and
    • 4 years of experience in environmental consulting (geotechnical consulting is not equivalent) and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations for site characterization and remediation, analytical data interpretation, and reporting.
    • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
    • Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to gain access to DoD project sites and California Refineries.
    • Must be able to pass a Medical Surveillance test, prior to employment due to potential for harmful chemicals at project sites.
    • Must be able to pass Motor Vehicle Records check
    • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Professional Geologist License or Geologist in Training Certificate.
    • Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work.
    • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
    • Knowledge of RCRA or CERCLA processes.
    • Experience with local regulatory agencies (EPA, Water Board, etc.)
    • Reporting experience in routine monitoring, site investigation work plans, conceptual site model, and well installation reports.
    • Task management or project management experience.
    • Proposal writing a plus.

    Compensation

    Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation in Oakland, CA will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 USD.
