    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Civil Engineer for immediate employment in our Tampa, FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (B+P) organization and will provide expertise in relation to Site/Civil Engineering methods and practices within this space. Ideal candidates have a strong background and interest in civil site development having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and produce great works. This individual will participate in all aspects from project identification through conceptual and final designs and providing support activities during construction.

    AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, site/civil engineering, and landscape architecture. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly work across offices and the region.

    The Site/Civil position presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their expertise and contribute to growing our Site/Civil expertise and team, leadership growth, and mentoring teams. The position will also provide for growth in client relationships and internal relationships across offices and region.     The job responsibilities for the position will include, but may not be limited, the following:

    • Serving as lead civil engineer on a variety of site/civil project types, including mid-to large size projects.
    • Able to organize workload and work independently on project-specific design tasks and lead staff.
    • Able to communicate and present with Clients, and discuss/explain technical solutions to project conditions.
    • Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
    • Providing technical input to studies and site/civil design and expertise for staff's specific areas of expertise (ie – utilities design, stormwater and grading, Civil3D, etc).
    • Coordinate scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.
    • Using AutoCAD Civil3D for site/civil land development designs including grading, 3D surfaces, site and roadway/parking area layouts, stormwater and utility system designs (potable water, wastewater, fire water) using tools including, but not limited to, C3D pipe networks, storm and sanitary analysis (SSA), etc.
    • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects of a site/civil project (i.e. – Civil 3D design tools, stormwater/utility design and calculations, etc.).
    • Provide direction to prescriptive and performance based specifications
    • Participating in development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule)
    • Reviewing permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper civil project design and permitting applications.
    • Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, including civil, architecture, geotechnical, traffic engineers, Federal team, landscape architects, and surveyors to provide value and partner in project opportunities.
    • Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities
  • Qualifications

    ** MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

    • BA/BS in Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Demonstrated experience working on site/civil design projects.
    • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications)
    • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for project designs.
    • Valid US Driver’s License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
    • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

    ** PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

    • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or able to register for the Principles & Practice (PE) Exam within 1 year).
    • 8+ years of experience, in civil engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building design – survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration, with direct experience in design and permitting of site utilities including water, sanitary sewer/wastewater and storm drainage (including pond and detention/retention system designs) for site/civil land development projects.
    • Experience with permitting site/land development projects, including local Water Management Districts (WMD), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP; stormwater and/or utilities), local County/City site permitting, etc.
    • Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline intensive environment
    • Experience with site design software such as Auto Turn, GeoPak, ICPR, Infraworks, and GIS, including:
      • Objects – Styles & Labels;
      • Designing Surfaces (3D Feature Lines & Grading Groups);
      • Working with Pipe Networks (Alignments & Profiles);
      • Corridor Design (Assemblies & Subassemblies);
      • Working with Data Shortcuts;
      • Working with Plan Production Tools
    • Experience working in large and complex projects/programs.
    • Experience with construction phase services for site/civil projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.)

    Offered rate of compensation (FL locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - 125,000 annual.
