    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to be based in Austin or San Antonio, TX.

    This position is expected to begin in May/June 2023.

    The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

    • Prepare drawings and visual aids either as self-created sketches or in collaboration with a CAD Designer / drafting team.
    • Perform mechanical design calculations and standard computations including but not limited to pipe sizing, pipe stress, pipe hydraulics, thermal growth, and finite element analysis.
    • Prepare Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Prepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and fabricated components.
    • Apply standard practices and techniques, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through series of related detailed steps or process.
    • Provide field support (travel required) for vendor surveillance, construction support and equipment start-up.
    • Provide supervision on all aspects of project deliverables sufficient to provide professional engineering seal / certification

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.
    • Must have completed 2 years of study in the applicable program.
    • Valid Driver's License is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience/interest in one or more of the following areas: hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, green infrastructure / low impact development, water quality modeling / monitoring, coastal engineering and analyses, coastal science, and civil infrastructure design.
    • Knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.
