    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Control Room Quality Specialist to be based in Milwaukee, WI. ****

    Responsibilities:

    • Review of emails for grammar, context, and/or spelling errors prior to disseminating emails
    • Ability to work and communicate with control room staff, WisDOT management and/or AECOM management to correct issues or problems within control room
    • Assist with Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) troubleshooting, testing, documentation, reporting, and control room usage
    • Serve as a conduit between control room staff and ATMS vendor
    • Assist in collecting, collating, and verifying accuracy of mobility data (e.g., incident clearance, travel times, travel speeds, secondary crashes, other traffic incident management measures) utilizing various databases to collectively optimize WisDOT’s roadway system performance (e.g., safety, security, reliability, signal performance metrics)
    • Assist in developing and administering data collection methods
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Brings information forward to WisDOT’s Statewide Control Room Engineer and/or AECOM’s Control Room Manager to develop improved procedures or activities within TMC
    • Reviews and implements construction and monitoring plans for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components (e.g., CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, portable changeable message signs, ramp metering, etc.)
    • Assist with regional work zone coordination for traffic management plans and ITS usage
    • Reviews and supports control room activities for nightly work zone lane closures by assisting with dynamic message sign usage
    • Attends construction progress meetings when applicable to discuss project’s needs and addresses accordingly with scheduled dynamic message sign messages or portable changeable message sign messages
    • Assist with ramp meter operational reviews and trouble shooting
    • Assist with maintaining internal and external contact information documentation and organization
    • Work with WisDOT staff to plan future ITS infrastructure based on prioritized operational needs
    • Research performance measurement best practices at other Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) across the world and incorporate findings
    • Maintain accurate records

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Perform functions as a TMC Control Room Operator as needed
    • Perform functions as a Flex Lane Specialist or in the process of training
    • Attend periodic trainings
    • Other duties as assigned by WisDOT or AECOM management
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • HS + 2 or more years prior experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or other related experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
    • Strong command of the English language (to include punctuation, sentence structure, and technical editing)
    • Ability to utilize skills such as proactive monitoring and situational awareness
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Prior experience as a control room operator or associated skills
    • Previous background, education and/or experience in traffic operations or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
    • Previous backgrounds and/or experience with public communications
    • Previous experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other data analysis and presentation tools

    Additional Information

    • Offered rate of compensation (Wisconsin locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $32.00/hr.
