Job Description

We are seeking an editor-in-chief for AÉNL, who must be extremely well-versed in urban culture and internet trends. Because the world is evolving so quickly across so many subject areas, we're looking for an editor who has a very keen eye for narrative threads that weave across a number of disciplines.

Experience in telling amazing stories across multiple formats and platforms is crucial, as is an ability to manage a team across multiple locales. We're looking for someone who has a vision for how to continue to develop the site and is focused on award-winning journalism in the years to come. Developing and continuing the growth of the site's output, audience, and impact will be the central metrics for success.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and execute a multimedia publishing strategy focused on growing AÉNL's core audience with stories that can't be found elsewhere in our sector.

Manage AÉNL's global editorial team to ensure consistency in the AÉNL voice and style.

Interact regularly with managers in other key departments, such as production, and learn about all facets of the organization as a business.

Provide a deep understanding of market competitive landscape, trends and user needs, and translate that understanding into growing AÉNL's readership.

Serve as the final arbiter on editorial decisions.

Oversee editors, writers and other staff members who are subordinates, including providing guidance for their professional development as well as resolving any editorial disputes.

Interview and hire those staff members who serve in subordinate editorial roles.
