VP of Operations role is a critical role in the organization, and we are looking for an experienced, and highly motivated individual to join the top management team!
Description of Position
The VP of Operations is the key position and responsible for the oversight of short and long-term objectives of the Operations Group and a liaison between all the departments. They will focus on strategic planning, goal setting and direct the operations of the company to support those key goals. This role will also be responsible for supporting the development of the operations team. This is a full-time, salaried position, that is based out of our headquarters in Gary, Indiana.
Responsibilities and Expectations
Responsible for establishing the strategic vision for the operations functions and integrating these initiatives cross-functionally across the organization.
Strategic analysis and development of freight lanes
Analyze performance and profitability of our fleet of drivers
Actively leads continuous improvement activities within the organization
Create relationships with all internal departments and leaders to achieve business results
Create, develop and monitor KPI metrics for operations (confirming that all Fleet Managers hit their specific goals. Monthly, Quarterly and Annually. Also, provide updates and recommendations that improve operational results and the profitability of the company
Responsible for development and implementation of continued changes in strategies
Responsible for all quality control processes and procedures
Ensure operational reports are accurate and communicated effectively with the team
Responsible for hiring, training, and consistently evaluating performance of the Operations team
Qualifications and Skills
Ability to manage a team with in person and remote employees effectively
This person will need to have great communication skills. They will need to be able to speak with multiple levels of management and employees.
Must have 5 years of experience in a related field
Be able to bring new ideas to the table and follow through all approved ideas
Have a desire to grow and learn within the company
Must be goal oriented and be driven to meet and exceed expectations
Ability to negotiate rates with customers, and brokers, and assist with Fleet Managers
There will be many different tasks that will need to be completed and checked at once. This person will need to be able to multitask.
Experience with McLeod TMS is preferred but not required
Ability to communicate and lead a fleet of drivers with retention in mind
