Overview
We are seeking a passionate and innovative AI Architect to join our AI innovation team. This role focuses on designing enterprise-grade architectures for AI-driven solutions and agentic workflows that transform how dental practices operate. You will be a hands-on architect who not only designs systems but actively codes alongside your team, architecting solutions using advanced AI frameworks, consolidating structured and unstructured data, and orchestrating intelligent agent-based systems. The ideal candidate has software architecture experience, with proven expertise in AI/ML systems, cloud platforms, and a passion for rapid innovation using modern AI development tools. This candidate can set technical direction, mentor engineers, and build proof-of-concepts that engineering teams harden into scalable, production-grade solutions.
*Location: This role requires onsite presence in our Irvine, CA office for the first 4-6 weeks.
Architecture Design : Design scalable, modular architectures for AI-driven applications and agentic workflows. Define technical standards, design patterns, and best practices for building systems that use LLMs, multi-agent orchestration, and data consolidation across structured and unstructured datasets.
Agentic Workflow Design : Design and implement multi-agent systems (planner-executor, tool-calling, memory, state management, evaluation loops). Design agent-to-agent communication patterns, state management, and orchestration strategies for autonomous workflows in healthcare.
Data Architecture & Consolidation: Architect solutions that unify and reason over structured and unstructured data sources (databases, documents, APIs, logs, event streams) to power intelligent AI agents with RAG, hybrid retrieval, and semantic search capabilities.
Security & Compliance: Design secure data handling, encryption, audit logging, and access control mechanisms for sensitive patient data in AI systems, considering healthcare compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST).
AI Tooling & Velocity: Use modern AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, LangChain, LangGraph, v0.app, etc.) to create hands-on architectural solutions, proof of concepts, and prototypes that validate decisions and guide product strategy.
System Integration : Integrate AI-driven and agentic solutions with existing dental practice management systems, EHRs, RCM platforms, and third-party applications. Ensure seamless data flow, API design, and interoperability across complex healthcare ecosystems.
Technical Leadership : Provide architectural guidance, mentorship, design reviews, define standards, and improve engineering quality in AI-first systems.
Stakeholder communication : Collaborate with product managers, designers, data teams, and leadership to transform ambiguous problems into clear technical strategies using prototypes for alignment and decision-making.
Skills and Qualifications
Education : A bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a closely related discipline is required.
Experience : 7+ years of software engineering and/or architecture experience, with at least 2+ years focused on AI/ML systems, agentic based architectures, or similar advanced technologies. Proven track record designing and implementing largescale systems; startup or Innovation team experience is a plus.
Agentic & LLM Systems: Strong hands-on experience with LLM-based systems, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, multi-agent architectures, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, LangGraph, or similar.
AI-First Development Tooling : Hands-on with AI-powered tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Figma, MCP, v0.app, etc.) and the ability to treat AI agents as a primary development accelerator.
Software Engineering Stack : Strong understanding of software development principles and architecture. Proficiency with C#, .NET, OpenAPI, Python, PyTorch (or equivalent), Docker, Git, Microservices, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD.
Data & Databases: Expertise in designing data pipelines, ETL processes, and data consolidation strategies. Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, FAISS) and RAG architectures, plus a strong understanding of both structured databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Cosmos DB) and unstructured data management.
Cloud Platform : Knowledgeable in at least one major cloud platform (Azure recommended; AWS or GCP acceptable) with awareness of multi-cloud architectures and tradeoffs. Demonstrated experience with cloud native design patterns, microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless architectures and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Communication & Influence: Effective communication skills to explain complex programming or AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; ability to influence without authority and drive alignment through artifacts and prototypes.
Attributes : Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, curiosity, and a passion for innovation. Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where experimentation is valued.
Healthcare Domain (Preferred, not required): Familiarity with healthcare systems, dental practice management software, EHR systems, RCM workflows, or healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) is preferred but not required. Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security is a plus.
Benefits:
Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for variable pay as part of the total compensation package.
