Forward Deployed AI Automation / Agentic AI Engineer (SQL & Snowflake)
Position Overview: 6 month contract
We are seeking a hands-on AI Automation / Agentic AI Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy AI-driven automation solutions, with a particular focus on optimizing internal request handling and operations workflows.
This is not a traditional, reporting-only data role. The ideal candidate blends agentic AI development, advanced SQL/Snowflake engineering, and API integrations to solve real-world business problems and eliminate manual processes.
Position Details
Location/Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) | Standard Business Hours
Assignment Type: Contract (Initial duration through the end of 2026, with potential for extension into 2027)
Target Start Date: As soon as possible (July / Early August)
Key Responsibilities
AI Workflow Development: Design, build, and implement practical AI automation workflows and standalone AI agents for internal business processes.
Data Engineering & Structuring: Utilize SQL and Snowflake to access, analyze, validate, and structure clean datasets optimized for AI-enabled applications.
System Integration: Connect applications, databases, and LLM models through robust API integrations to move data, trigger actions, and automate workflows end-to-end.
Consultative Problem Solving: Partner closely with internal technical and non-technical stakeholders to uncover the root business challenges and translate those needs into technical solutions.
Testing & Documentation: Validate SQL query performance, AI outputs, and overall workflow quality. Document all code and workflows thoroughly to ensure long-term maintainability.
Position Requirements
Proven experience building AI agents, AI workflows, or automation solutions utilizing LLMs.
Must have experience integrating AI tools programmatically through APIs (experience limited to web interfaces like ChatGPT/Claude is insufficient).
Deep understanding of prompt design, tool/function calling, data retrieval, workflow orchestration, and automation logic.
Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), LLM application development frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), or AI-powered process automation.
Advanced proficiency in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries (joins, window functions, CTEs).
Ability to work with highly structured datasets to support AI applications.
Note: Candidates must be comfortable passing a practical, live SQL technical assessment during the interview process.
Direct, hands-on experience with the Snowflake data platform is highly prioritized to ensure a fast ramp-up period.
Experience leveraging Snowflake AI features, Cortex, Snowpark, or Snowflake-based automation is a major asset.
Strong experience connecting distinct systems, databases, and models via APIs.
Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python) to automate manual workflows, handle errors, and manage data pipelines.
Stakeholder Empathy: A consultative mindset with the ability to understand internal user pain points and workflow bottlenecks.
Autonomy: Proven capability to ramp up quickly in a fast-moving environment with minimal hand-holding.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within a medical device, biotech, healthcare, or similarly regulated industry.
Experience automating workflows related to quality systems, complaints, compliance, operations, or request-management.
