    Job Description

    The National Affordable Housing Manager will serve as a subject matter expert on all matters related to HUD, Section 8, and Affordable Housing. The primary responsibility for this role will be to drive revenue for operations by ensuring HAP vouchers are submitted timely, and in compliance with all HUD, Section 8, Tax Credit, Bond and other Affordable Housing regulations. The role will also provide comprehensive compliance support and guidance to our Community Managers working at properties that have an affordable housing component.

    Responsibilities:

    • Drive revenue for Operations by ensuring HAP vouchers are submitted to HUD on a monthly basis, ensuring timely payment.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert on HUD, Section 8, Tax Credit, Bond, and Affordable Housing regulations for the company.
    • Provide guidance and support to Community Managers and other staff members to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and program requirements.
    • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures in alignment with HUD, Section 8, Tax Credit, Bond and Affordable Housing guidelines.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with internal departments, such as Legal, Finance, and Operations, to develop and implement strategies to mitigate compliance risks.
    • Stay up to date with changes in regulations, policies, and procedures related to HUD, Section 8, Tax Credit, Bond and Affordable Housing, and ensure timely dissemination of information to relevant stakeholders.
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff members to enhance their understanding of compliance requirements and best practices.
    • Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries and facilitating compliance-related communication.
    • Travel to various properties within the company's portfolio, up to 50% of the time, to provide on-site support, training, and compliance evaluations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate) is preferred.
    • 7+ years of experience in the field of affordable housing, HUD, Section 8, or related compliance roles. Additional experience is a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of HUD Section 8, Tax Credit, Bond and Affordable Housing programs.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.
    • Excellent understanding of the compliance landscape within the affordable housing industry.
    • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to practical situations.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to travel extensively, up to 50% of the time, to various properties within the company's portfolio.
