    Job Description

    RESPEC is seeking a part-time contract AIX Developer to support key federal IT clients. This role involves maintaining and enhancing AIX-based systems in a secure, regulated environment. Ideal for experienced professionals looking to contribute on a flexible, part-time basis. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance are required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement scripts, utilities, and applications on AIX platforms.
    • Administer AIX systems: installation, patching, performance tuning, and monitoring.
    • Create and maintain automation scripts (Shell, Python, Perl) to reduce manual tasks.
    • Troubleshoot complex issues in AIX environments and perform root cause analysis.
    • Ensure system security in compliance with HIPAA, NIST, and federal standards.
    • Collaborate in Agile/DevOps teams and clearly communicate technical solutions.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of hands-on AIX system administration or development experience (AIX 7.x).
    • Proficiency in shell scripting (Korn/Bash) and at least one additional scripting language.
    • Strong knowledge of AIX internals: LVM, JFS2, networking, and system processes.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    Nice to Have:

    • Prior experience with IHS or other federal healthcare systems (e.g., RPMS).
    • Familiarity with enterprise storage (SAN), Oracle/DB2, and AIX virtualization (LPARs/VIOS).
    • Exposure to DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and cloud integration.
    • Relevant certifications (IBM AIX Admin, CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundation).
