    The Albany Police Athletic League shall hire an Athletics’ Coordinator and the job responsibilities shall be as follows:

    · Primary responsibilities will include all sport related activities as assigned by the Executive Director. Assist the Executive Director and Program Manager with the coordination, the planning and executing of a wide range of PAL programs and particularly athletic activities, for kids at various venues throughout Albany. Specific duties will include: Scheduling activities; arranging supervision of all activities by police officers and/or PAL volunteers; checking to ensure that activities are unfolding on schedule and that adult supervisors are there as planned; trouble-shooting when activities and/or supervision do not unfold as planned; evaluating those activities and suggesting changes, improvements, and corrections from day to day and year to year.

    · Develop ideas for new programming opportunities as they relate to athletics, and work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to bring approved ideas to fruition (finding venues, scheduling activities, booking police officers or PAL volunteers to supervise, etc.).

    · Ability to administer and carry out each and every detail of a particular athletic club or activity.

    · Work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to identify opportunities for new funding for both new and current programs, and then pursue that funding through a variety of means, with possible activities to be assigned by the Executive Director including: writing fund-raising letters, making direct face-to-face or telephone solicitations, club 50 – 50 raffles, concession stand, candy drives and writing and editing grant proposals.

    · Assist the Executive Director and Program Manager with the cross training of each employee and each PAL position. Assist Administrative Staff as circumstances or the Executive Director dictate.

    · Complete any other duties assigned by the Executive Director or Program Manager.

    · Administer, adhere to and enforce all PAL policies and procedures as they pertain to particular programs and youth.

    · Maintain a constant and regular schedule with default hours of 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekdays, including a thirty-minute lunch break as arranged with the Executive Director. The Primary employment hours for this position seasonally are Tuesday – Saturday 11 – 7:30, with the understanding that peak periods may require some evening and/or weekend adjustments especially during peak sporting activities and that specific hours will be negotiated with the Executive Director.

    · Report to the Program Manager, and expect to be assigned related PAL tasks at locations away from the PAL administrative location.

    · Must Possess a Valid New York State Drivers License and have a vehicle at their disposal during work hours. A monthly stipend shall be negotiated.

    · Responsible for facilities oversight as it pertains to Athletics. Work with Executive Director and Facilities Manager on the maintenance, upkeep and site improvements of Athletic facilities. Some field and concession stand work will be involved.

    Proposed Compensation Package

    Projected salary range: $35,500.00 – $ 44,895.00

    Paid Time off (PTO) includes vacation, personal and sick time. The employee shall be entitled to fourteen (14) days PTO per calendar year after twelve months of employment, nineteen (19) after thirty-six (36) months of employment, twenty-four (24) after sixty (60) months of employment and twenty-nine (29) after 120 months of employment and forward. There are 11 paid holidays. Employee’s Pre-planned PTO of 3 days or more shall be scheduled by the Employer, in consultation with the Employee. Employee may carry over up to six (6) days of unused PTO into the new calendar year. Employee may bank up to 5 days annually (for a maximum of 60 days) and receive compensation upon separation from the organization for said Bank Time.

    This position shall be entitled to an individual/single health benefits package for which the employee shall contribute 20% of the total cost. Employee shall be responsible for all additional charges in excess of single benefits. In-lieu of health benefits a payment of $1,800.00 will be paid in two $900.00 increments annually at the end of 8 months and then again at each 6-month interval, prorated to the fiscal year.

    This position shall be entitled to participate in a Simple IRA Retirement Plan. Among other rules and limitations, the employer shall contribute a dollar-for-dollar match limited to 3% of eligible employee compensation. Eligibility begins on employee’s first year anniversary.

    Team player

    Previous experience in child care or early childhood education is preferred but not required

    Strong communication and time management skills

    Certified in first aid and CPR is preferred but not required

    Able to work on your feet for long periods

    Able to bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently
