    Job Description

    NOW INTERVIEWING / HIRING - COST ACCOUNTANT - RELOCATION FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - SANTA BARBARA, CA

This position will provide exposure to senior management and an accelerated growth path. You will be heavily involved in decision making while working with other departments such as supply chain and FP&A.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·         COST ACCOUNTING

    o   Perform product line margin analysis and implement processes to improve margins.

    o   Develop product class cost allocations in order to determine gross margin analysis.

    o   Responsible for preparing certain monthly reconciliations and financial reports

    o   Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.

    o   Responsible for procedures regarding time card audits, jobs creation audits, setting up R&D jobs etc

    o   Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close

    o   Maintain company-wide quoting model

    o   Develop yearly standard cost rates

    o   Help in developing yearly annual budget

     

    ·         INVENTORY CONTROL

    o   Close job orders and review any variances as defined in the job order costing policy

    o   Establish inventory costing review of average actual costs to determine cost validity

    o   Spend time on floor reviewing work in process and matching back to BOM for accuracy

    o   Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts

    o   Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues

    o   Lead person on monitoring and tracking prepayment of inventory from select customers

    o   Review and resolve obsolete inventory, monthly inventory receipts and other inventory specific issues

    o   Revise inventory procedures as necessary

    o   Review raw material on a weekly basis

    o   Review WIP inventory on a weekly basis

    o   Perform cost analysis testing on Finished Goods inventory

     

    ·         FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ANALYSIS

    o   Ensure that corporate goals and metrics are achieved

    o   Establishing, modifying, documenting and coordinating implementation of accounting procedures and processes

    o   Prepare journal entries and review P & L

    o   Monthly reporting utilizing corporate financial reporting system

    o   Creates needed GL transactions

    o   Provide regular review of processes and participate in corporate improvement initiatives including Kaizen, Lean, etc

    o   Assists in the month end closing processes

    o   Assist Controller as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    The Cost Accountant performs exempt administrative job duties that are office related and directly related to management or general business operations of Dow-key and its customers 

    §  A primary component involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.

    §  Ability to work with all departments within the organization

    §  Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

    §  Knowledge of M2M software package is a plus

    §  Ability to use advanced mathematical skills required

    §  High level of confidentiality required

    • Must have strong attention to detail
    • Must be able to analyze and solve complex problems
    • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must have expertise in Microsoft Office Suite products
    • Advanced skills in Excel (VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables, charts) required
    • Must have the ability to plan and manage multiple projects at once

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    §  5+ years of accounting experience

    §  Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university required

    §  Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a job-cost based manufacturing environment

    §  Prior experience in Government accounting (FAR) is a strong plus
