Job Title: Allergy Mixing Specialist
Department: Mixing Lab/ Clinical
Reports To: Nurse Coordinator/ Practice Manager
Position Summary
HIGH VOLUME MIXING LAB
To follow lab protocols and develop Immunotherapy vials for patients of Allergy & ENT Associates under the direction of physicians/providers and the nursing staff. Supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
• Follows policies, procedures and protocols and implements appropriately in the lab.
• Prepares and mixes antigen according to formulary.
• Assist in preparing to ship out antigen to offices.
• Assist in maintaining daily reports.
• Maintain supplies, equipment and restock at the end of each day.
• Cleans and sterilizes work station.
• Responds to nurse phone calls.
• Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Follows OSHA regulations and guidelines of the practice.
• Performs specific job duties assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school graduate or equivalent
• One year medical office, lab, mixing experience preferred
• Must be self-directed and able to work independently
• Attention to detail a must
• Professional, calm and courteous demeanor
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
• Rosch and NextGen experience is a plus
Physical Demands
Physical Demands: In the performance of certain patient care tasks, the Mixing Specialist may be expected to have sufficient manual dexterity in order to safely perform various skills and techniques. This position requires the ability to sit for long hours. Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. Indirect contact with patients, but a rare possibility, of being exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, and blood borne pathogens. Direct contact and exposure to allergen extracts.
Work Environment
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation; Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with working hours of 7am – 4pm; no overtime required.
