Job Title: Nurse Coordinator for Allergy & ENT Associates in The Woodlands Clinics!
Department: Clinical
Reports To: Practice Manager/Director of Nursing/Physicians
Position Summary
To provide quality patient care services to the patients of Allergy & ENT Associates through collaboration with physicians, providers and other members of the health care team. Directly responsible for the comprehensive management of nursing staff in the clinic and related satellite clinics. Provides leadership and acts as a role model for nursing staff. Ensures adequate staffing, teamwork, efficiency, and patient satisfaction regarding nursing issues. Supports the goals and objectives of the Company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care needs at clinic location.
• Supervises nursing staff in the clinic and related satellite clinics.
• Attends Nurse Coordinator Meetings as scheduled
• Conducts monthly meetings for nursing staff.
• Ensures staff compliance with patient care policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Responsible for nursing schedule and providing adequate staffing within budget guidelines.
• Responsible for monitoring utilization and ordering of medical supplies within budget
guidelines.
• Acts as a role model and resource to nursing staff.
• Acts as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and administrative staff.
• Participates with Practice Manager in interviewing and hiring new nursing personnel.
• Coordinates orientation & training of new nursing staff.
• Responsible for annual performance reviews and corrective counseling process for nursing staff.
• Maintains current records of nursing staff license verification and CPR certification.
• Acts as OSHA Safety Officer for clinic location and ensures staff compliance with OSHA
regulations and safety guidelines. Provides annual OSHA in-service to clinic staff.
• Ensures nursing compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with other Nurse Coordinators, Practice Managers, physicians, mid-level
• providers, Director of Nursing, and Administrator in evaluating and implementing changes and improvements in services.
• Assists nursing staff/provides direct patient care as needed
• Evaluates the educational needs of nursing staff and arranges in-services.
• Continues professional self-development.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Texas Nursing RN or LVN License.
• Current CPR Certification.
• 4 years nursing experience preferred with 2-3 years of progressive supervisory and/or
• management experience desired. Allergy/ENT Medical Office experience helpful.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
• Skilled in completing assigned medical office procedures and tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Internet and EPM/EHR.
• Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service; the ability to demonstrate a series of activities designed to enhance the level of both internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Uses time efficiently by prioritizing and planning work activities; is methodical and efficient in structuring tasks to be accomplished.
• The ability to separate emotional feelings from the real issues at hand. The ability to legitimately and objectively challenge the substance of our beliefs and biases of our observations.
• Managing one's own time and the time of others; the ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources).
Physical Demands
Position is in a fast paced medical office environment. Good eyesight and hearing, manual dexterity, and full range of body motion required. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. May require occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.
Work Environment
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation; Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
