    Job Description

    AGMA Visa Consultant

    American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) is the labor union of singers, dancers, and staging staff in opera, ballet and concert dance, and concert choral performance in the United States. A national union with a membership of approximately 6,500 artists, AGMA provides forceful advocacy and defense of its members’ employment and artistic rights. AGMA has a direct charter from the AFL-CIO and is affiliated with the AFL-CIO Branch of Associated Actors and Artists of America and the Department for Professional Employees (DPE). AGMA is also a part of the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG).

    JOB SUMMARY The Visa Consultant is responsible for providing Advisory Opinion Letters for beneficiaries who are non-immigrant soloists, individual instrumentalists, dancers, choreographers, stage directors, and stage managers to enable AGMA signatories and other producers to apply for work visas for various productions. AGMA also covers job titles that do not fall under any other union’s jurisdiction.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review petitions received on a daily basis and log them into the visa database.
    • Review daily bank Activity Reports for wire transfers and ACH payments and log them in to the visa database.
    • Ensure petition is marked appropriately for either expedited or regular service; and payment received matches service designation.
    • Review supporting documentation from preparers to ensure it meets USCIS criteria.
    • Prepare letters based on applicable non-immigrant classification.
    • Email advisory opinion letter to preparer or petitioner so they can file it with the USCIS.
    • Prepare periodic reports for National Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer, and Board of Governors regarding petition payments received, identifying actual versus budget.
    • Respond to periodic verification inquiries or Requests for Further Evidence (RFE) from the USCIS.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BACHELOR’S DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT.
    • Minimum of five years (5) experience in administrative support, visa coordination or human resources.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including spread sheet experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks while working with minimal supervision and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
    • Has demonstrated a high degree of organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail and workflow.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • ABLE TO WORK OCCASIONAL EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS, IF NECESSARY.
    • Remote position to start and possible transition to National Headquarters (NYC) office setting.

     

    COMPENSATIONS

    • Salary commensurate with experience, $60,000 - $65,000 range, excellent benefit package.
