  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    ·         Provide administrative support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

    ·         Coordinated annual reviews, aid with the Program Description for AAALAC international, submit the annual reviews to AAALAC international and USDA, etc.

    ·         Schedule IACUC meetings, ensure a quorum, prepares meeting agendas, submits documents for committee review and records meetings.

    ·          Provide member training, and tracks appointment expirations and due dates for refresher training.

    ·         Create and revise research forms, provide forms and regulatory guidance to research staff with guidance from the Attending Veterinarian (AV) and Branch Chief.

    ·         Review, edit, and create ACUC research policies with guidance from the AV and Branch Chief.

    ·         Track and maintain the schedule for post approval monitoring of research studies

    ·         Maintain and update the AALAS training to include the occupational health tracker to ensure compliance.

    ·         Maintain databases to tracker active and inactive protocols, animal numbers used and unused.

    ·         Schedule and organize internal and external inspections, maintain the tracker for correction to deficiencies and provide a report to the AV as well as the Branch Chief.

    ·         Review animal subjects research protocols as well as related documents to ensure they are formatted in accordance with IACUC and Air Force policies.

    ·         Prepare correspondence for research investigators concerning research protocols and related documents submitted for approval.

    ·         Maintain records and electronic databases of animal research protocols and their progress.

    ·         Implement research guidelines and policies for the animal care activities.

    ·         Research regulations, compliance and guidelines with the Animal Care and Use Program.

    ·         Prepare outside correspondence for research requiring external approval.

    ·         Work with the IACUC chair and AV to compile data for regulatory reporting requirements

    ·         Provide quality control to the administrative area of the animal care program.

    ·         Provide administrative support to the branch and other duties as assigned appropriate to the required functions of the IACUC as well as the branch.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Degree:  Preferred an academic field related to health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

    Require experience at least three years in animal research in which you performed the duties listed with a degree in a related area.

    Require at least six years of experience in animal research in which you performed the duties listed without a degree.

    Preferred that you are Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA)
