Subject Matter Expert-Computational Science and Molecular Biology/Genomics: • Develop an architecture for a computational infrastructure to analyze and provide access to data from genome-wide association studies, high-throughput sequencing, expression arrays, and other sources. • Effectively work with a team in a production environment and communicate with biologists and programmers, as well as scientists from the extramural community. • Support the coordination of data intake, data flow, and data distribution for projects involving subject areas in genomics, genetics, clinical trial data, and chemical structure data. As an example, manage the workflow for scientific papers submitted in compliance with the Public Access Policy. • Requiring familiarity with biology and experience in the field of electronic publishing including XML markup. Another example is inter-agency coordination on the researcher profile project for funding applications. • Coordinate the full project lifecycle is required, from requirements definition to database design to system design, integration, testing, operations, and maintenance. • Provide expertise in teaching, training, and implementing Agile methodologies for systems development and program management. • Support the intake, data analysis/pipeline development, and processing of data submissions for large-scale studies in genomics and genotyping, including high throughput sequence data. • Provide short-term consultants or specialists with the expertise to meet specific requirements in a variety of areas, such as system and network engineering, search and retrieval technologies, certification, and accreditation procedures for establishing system security, particularly in a cloud environment e.g., assessment and authorization (A&A). • Authorization to operate (ATO, FEDRAMP requirements), and documentation and training. Responsibilities: • Support work requires experience in biology generally, but specialized experience in areas such as sequencing, protein structure, and bioinformatics. • System Administration and Management Support for Biomedical and Bibliographic Information Resources. • Support the development of sequence analysis software, e.g., sequence alignment; familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as R or MATLAB. • Support software development lifecycle including project planning/tracking and software quality assurance/testing. • Provide SMEs to support expert curators. Maintains, in addition to PubMed, over 40 databases covering a broad range of topics in molecular and structural biology, genetics, small-molecule chemistry, taxonomy, and human health (e.g., genome-wide association studies, genetic testing, and comparative effectiveness research). • For all of these resources expert curators are required to review, evaluate, analyze, enter, edit, and perform QA and other maintenance tasks. Qualifications: • Masters in relevant field. • Minimum experience of 15 years. Compensation: $100,000 yearly
