Angel Wheels Transportation provides wheelchair accessible non-emergency transportation to medical appointments. Located in Schaumburg Illinois and operating since 2009, we serve communities in northwestern Cook and northern DuPage counties.

Position Overview

As a Medical Transport Driver, you will take clients from various locations such as personal residences, rehabilitation centers and healthcare facilities to their medical appointments using a wheelchair lift equipped commercial service vehicle. This position involves significant amount of interpersonal contact with clients, family members, facility staff and medical professionals. The work is very hands-on and requires pushing and maneuvering clients in wheelchairs both in and out of the vehicle as well as securing them for safe transport.

Responsibilities

Drive and operate a wheelchair accessible commercial service vehicle safely and efficiently

Load and secure clients in the vehicle for transport

Oversee client safety and well-being during the trip

Interact with clients, their families and healthcare staffs in a professional courteous manner

Lightly promote the company’s services as opportunities arise

Manage facility and appointment check-in/check-out processes on behalf of the client

Maintain a safe and clean operating environment inside and outside of the vehicle

Skills and Requirements

Licensing

Minimum 25 years of age

Valid Illinois driver license (CDL is not required)

No moving violations in last 3 years.

No motor vehicle related arrests or suspensions in last 10 years

Ability to operate a commercial service vehicle in a safe and competent manner

Customer Service and Communication Skills

Professional presentation and appearance

Excellent interpersonal skills

Fluent in written and spoken English

Ability to engage clients in a friendly, positive, empathetic way

Client-centric attitude -awareness of client’s physical condition and needs

Ability to maintain composure in an occasionally fast-paced work environment

Physical Requirements

Ability to push, pull and maneuver occupied wheelchairs up and down inclines, steps and curbs

Extensive bending, squatting, stooping

Pick up minimum 50 pounds
