Job Summary
Safe Passage workers are posted on Safe Passage routes to support children traveling to and from school during arrival and dismissal bell times. The Community Watcher is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety of children at designated schools.
Responsibilities
Monitor assigned post, streets, and intersections
Ensure safety of students walking to and from school by identifying potential conflicts and working collaboratively with community partners to deescalate situation
Provides daily updates to the Team Lead
Attend all required CPS safe passage meetings and trainings to ensure best practices
Build relationships with school administrators, police personnel, parents, community residents by increasing their awareness of the program whenever possible
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age •
Minimum educational attainment: High school diploma/GED •
Ability to work flexible hours
Must be able to work 2.5 hours in the AM and 2.5 hours in the PM
example 7:00-9:30am and 2:30-5:00 pm
Must pass the CPS background and fingerprinting check
Ability to stand constantly for a minimum of 3 hours outdoors in any kind of weather
