Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized AP/AR Accountant to join our growing property management team. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions across a portfolio of manufactured housing communities. The ideal candidate will have strong transactional accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Manage accounts receivable, including tenant billing, rent collections, and posting of receipts.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables, including delinquency tracking and coordination with property management teams.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of all AP/AR transactions and supporting documentation.
- Assist with monthly close processes, including preparation of AP/AR aging reports and related reconciliations.
- Perform bank and cash reconciliations related to collections and disbursements.
- Ensure proper coding of expenses and income in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
- Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate resident ledgers and billing adjustments.
- Manage annual 1099 reporting process.
- Support year-end audit requests related to AP/AR transactions.
- Assist with implementation and improvement of AP/AR processes and internal controls.
- Respond to vendor and resident inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Ad-hoc projects as requested.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
- Experience in real estate, property management, or manufactured housing preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing.
- Proficiency with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Customer service oriented with a “can do” attitude.
Working Conditions:
- No travel.
- 2–3 days on-site per week; remaining days remote
