The Position

We are hiring a part-time AP Chemistry Tutor to deliver exceptional 1-on-1 in-home tutoring in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia. Sessions are scheduled after school (weekdays, 4-10 PM) and on weekends, providing flexible hours to fit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver 90-minute private, in-home tutoring sessions for AP Chemistry

Create customized lesson plans to address individual student needs and learning goals.

Maintain consistent, positive communication with parents and students to build trust and rapport.

Collaborate with the Top Score team to track student progress and refine tutoring strategies.

Provide academic guidance to build students’ confidence and support their success on AP Chemistry exams.

Ideal Candidate

Proven experience teaching or tutoring AP Chemistry

Current or former high school teachers or graduate students pursuing a Master’s/Ph.D. in a STEM field are strongly preferred.

Additional expertise in tutoring STEM subjects (e.g., Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Biology) is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees or certifications in education/STEM fields preferred.

Passionate about building positive, supportive relationships with students and families.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong time management and process adherence.

Excellent communicator, responsive, and committed to collaborative teamwork.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Pay: Starting at $50-$75/hour, with potential to earn up to $85/hour based on experience and tenure.

Travel Bonus: Additional compensation for travel exceeding 30 minutes to student homes.

Logistical Requirements

Flexible availability for evenings (4-10 PM weekdays) and weekends.

Ability to pass a background check (required for working with students).
