    The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking an individual for the position of Education and Training Manager. APCO International is headquartered in Daytona Beach, FL, with an additional office in Alexandria, VA. The incumbent will work out of the Daytona Beach, FL location.

    About APCO:

    APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals, with over 30,000 members. It serves the needs of public safety communications practitioners worldwide - and the welfare of the general public as a whole - by providing complete expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy, and outreach.

    The Position:

    The Education and Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of APCO Institute courses and Instructor Programs. These duties include monitoring the effectiveness of training programs and the work of instructors. The Education and Training Manager will also collaborate with all APCO Institute staff, in particular with the Course Coordinators and Administrative Assistant to ensure training is delivered in line with APCO International policies, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

    The Education and Training Manager also works with teams of instructors to ensure training programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. Overall, the primary goal of the Education and Training Manager is to ensure all APCO education and training events meet the highest standards of quality instruction.

    Reports to: APCO Institute Director

    General Description of Essential Job Tasks:

    The following are general descriptions of the essential job tasks of the position. Other related tasks may be assigned as necessary and appropriate.

    Serve as primary administrator for APCO’s Instructor Programs and Online Learning Platform

    1. Manage the Adjunct Instructor Program, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, ongoing training and evaluation of adjunct instructors

    2. Maintain the Adjunct Policy Manual and other program documentation in alignment with Institute policies and procedures

    3. Oversee the Agency Instructor Program, including program planning and development and compliance

    Oversee the Institute’s Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL Program)

    1. Plan and schedule RPL courses for each year

    2. Assign and oversee the facilitators of RPL courses

    3. Manage and process the intake and evaluation of applications, making the decision for admission to the program

    4. Evaluate students’ final course project submissions to determine successful program completion

    5. Maintain and update RPL Program policy and procedures

    6. Organize RPL graduate recognition event at annual APCO International Conference

    7. Respond to inquiries and requests for RPL Program information. Maintain RPL Program frequently asked questions and answers.

    Represent the APCO Institute Team

    1. Serve as APCO representative at industry events and meetings

    2. Serve as a member of the APCO Institute Leadership Team, Curriculum Committees and Editorial Committee

    Minimum Experience Requirements

    Baccalaureate degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted

    Minimum three years experience developing curriculum and training materials for adult learners

    Minimum three years experience as a trainer or instructor, preferably in the public safety communications industry

    Experience in emergency communications (preferred)

    Experience with educational technology systems in delivery of online and virtual training
