    Founded in 1983 as a joint venture between Sony/ATV and Universal, APM Music is the recognized leader in the production music industry. Offering a comprehensive collection of original music, APM Music provides media producers and content creators with access to nearly 1 million high-caliber tracks specifically for use in film, television, radio, podcast, advertising, gaming, social and new media productions.

    THE ROLE

    We are looking for a Staff Accountant position to be part of APM's Finance team to focus on account reconciliation, journal entries posting, quarterly music royalty calculations, assisting in music usage reporting, music sampling income tracking, and preparation of basic accounting workbooks, such as Accounts Payable, corporate credit card, and capital expenditures.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Prepare and post general journal entries | | - Record all non-client cash transactions in financial system | | - Review and approve AP invoice batches for correctness of amounts, | | approvals, and general ledger coding | | - Review and approve employee expense report coding | | - Update expense workbooks with monthly transactions | | - Prepare data files and prepare quarterly royalty calculations | | - Assist with royalty distributions to payees | | - Respond to royalty clients' inquiries | | - Assist in preparation of monthly financial statement sub-schedules | | - Maintain accounting schedules of capital expenditures, transfer | | completed project costs to fixed assets | | - Tracking of music sampling revenues from multiple sources | | - Post monthly depreciation and amortization expenses. | | - Assist in inputting and evaluating music usage report from clients | | into system | | - Produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end | | schedules reports. | | - Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. | | - Perform other ad hoc projects as assigned | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Excellent verbal and written communication skills | | - Excellent people and problem-solving skills | | - Must be extremely organized, able to multi-task and work as a team | | player | | - Minimum of 1-3 years of Staff Accountant experience | | - Exposure to or use of Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics or Great Plains | | preferred | | - Must be proficient in all MS Office systems | | - Intermediate Excel skills are a plus – i.e. vlookup, pivots, sumifs | | - Bachelor or Associate degree in Accounting/Finance | | - Passion for the music business is a plus | | - Past experience in performing music royalty calculations is a plus | | - Familiarity with music reporting (Cue sheets) formats is a plus | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+
