    Based in Shreveport, Louisiana, we began in 1996 by offering payroll processing and tax compliance services. In 2000, we made the strategic decision to develop our own technology. From that decision, the APS cloud solution was born and designed to help small to midsize businesses harness the power of the cloud to improve workforce management and mitigate compliance risk. Our workforce management solution is a highly flexible and powerful system for core HR, payroll, and time & attendance. In addition, we offer an expanded technology platform which includes self-service for employees and managers, mobile access, carrier connections, and data integration capabilities.

    We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager. This is an exempt position on our Development Team. This is either a local or remote employment opportunity in the Dallas / Fort Worth Area. Occasional travel to the Corporate Office in Shreveport, LA may be required for business related issues. The Engineering Manager is responsible for helping the Engineering Team implement new features and push APS products to the next level.

    Recruiting, hiring, and developing a team of highly skilled engineering talent.

    Responsible for ensuring our products can support the growing demand of our customers and business priorities.

    Collaborating and guiding the design and the development of our products.

    Monitoring and reviewing engineer’s progress related to development goals.

    Working in partnership with Product, executive stakeholders, and the greater Engineering teams to deliver results.

    Provide coaching and counseling via mentoring, one-on-one meetings, etc.

    Provide technical guidance to team members.

    Other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Engineering Team (Software Engineers I, II, III)

    Education, Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The list below is representative of the qualifications, skills, and abilities required and preferred:

    Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.

    Extensive software development experience with a progression to a senior technical level.

    Engineering leadership experience under an Agile operational model.

    In-depth experience with at least one back end programming language such as PHP, C#, or Java. Experience with a functional programming language such as Scala is a plus.

    In-depth experience with JavaScript and front end JavaScript libraries. Experience with ExtJS is a plus.

    Experience with mobile development, particularly using React Native, is a plus.

    Experience developing and consuming APIs (REST, RPC, SOAP, etc).

    Experience working with a relational database such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

    Adept at writing unit tests and testable code, and working under distributed version control (preferably Git).

    Strong ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Strong planning and organizing skills and attention to details.

    Ability to work with people and work as part of a team.

    Must be able to work in an environment in which constant deadlines exist.

    Must be able to work the hours necessary to successfully perform in this position.

    Must understand all company guidelines, procedures, and workflow.
