Quality Marine is hosting a paid internship for college students who are interested in marine aquatic husbandry and aquarium keeping. Interns will work alongside our team of experienced aquarists to provide husbandry for our diverse collection of marine fish and invertebrates and see marine husbandry from a wholesale industry perspective. Through hands-on training, interns gain experience at our facility caring for species of fish from all over the world, learning water quality parameters, identifying common diseases and treatments, and learning nutritional requirements for our marine fish and invertebrates.

Location: Quality Marine; 5420 West 104th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90045

Position: Husbandry Aquarist (Intern)

Pay: $17.28 per hour (California's state minimum wage)

Responsibilities:

• Assist husbandry staff with daily tasks
• Food preparation and feeding
• Tank cleaning and maintenance
• Water quality assessments, data observations, record keeping
• Opportunity to assist with quarantine and treatment
• End of internship report/special project

Qualifications:

• Time commitment of minimum 24hr/week (3-8hr days a week) for 12 weeks.
• Weekend and holiday work required
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Must have reliable transportation throughout the internship period

Physical Requirements:

• Standing for more than 7 hours per day
• Able to lift 60 lbs.

Interns will have the unique opportunity to learn about the fast-paced and innovative industry, of Quality Marine is a part of. With companies such as AquaTropic (freshwater aquaria) and Nutramar (aquaria feeds) all on the same premises, interns will learn about how these companies work and excel for their respective clientele.
