JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
A technical sales representative works to build new, and reinforce existing client relationships with a focus on increasing company revenue and exploring new services and opportunities. The technical sales representative works in the business development department to sell ARL’s services and helps the marketing department to generate market development plans. These tasks require the representative to be familiar with the services ARL offers and how this intersects with the needs of current and potential clients. In assisting clients, the technical sales representative listens to needs, recommends services, and composes quotes to perform the appropriate work. Up-to-date knowledge of competitor’s offerings should be a focus to provide ARL’s clients with the best possible service. They work with the Director of Business development and other in-house groups to develop new services, decide how ARL’s capabilities should be offered, and how to sell and market those services in a competitive marketplace.
This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that may require you to operate a motor vehicle while performing your duties as a Technical Sales Representative. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Attendance at the office is required.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some carrying and setting up of exhibit displays is required. Standing while at exhibit booth for extending periods of time may also be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m.
Travel
Some overnight and local day travel may be necessary (~10-20%) and may include weekends.
Required Education and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in science or business.
Preferred Education and Experience
2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting and 2 years of sales experience.
