Position: Wastewater Treatment Operator
Department: Waste Treatment / Environmental
Full time: Swing shift – Train on dayshift
Primary Responsibilities –
- Assists in the operation of waste treatment systems
- Cleaning and calibration of the equipment (probes) and filter press
- Monitors system performance and reports back to operators
- Dumps and loads filter press and dryer
- Coordination of recyclables
Job Duties-
- Functions as a primary spill responder if a spill occurs when a Tech III is not present
- Assures containment of spills
- Immediately notifies emergency response coordinator if spill occurs
- Assures RCRA compliance
- Promptly and properly labels and contains waste
- Assures NPDES permit compliance
- Monitors, records and reports on the wastewater treatment unit
- Collects data on discharge status
- Notifies treatment operator when a non-compliance condition develops
- Supports the analytical production process when necessary
- Operates machinery in a safe manner maintaining certification as needed
- Complies with shop safety rules and regulations
- Monitoring and Operation of the waste water treatment system
- Management and treatment of processed waste
- Management of safety and emergency contingency apparatus for the waste treatment area
- Take an active role in waste reduction activities
Requirements/ Skills -
- Mathematical skills needed; the ability to add, subtracts, and divides
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English
- Able to lift and or move up to 25lbs regularly
- Attention to detail
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Fork lift experience
- Experience working with chemistries
- Advanced basic computer skills – email, documents, spreadsheets, etc
- Waste water treatment experience preferred (preferably industrial waste water)
- Regulatory knowledge preferred (RCRA, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, Storm water, etc)
