    COMMODITY MANAGER

     

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    Regional Procurement responsibility for direct materials (Chemicals) for U.S. and Canada, with support to Mexico and South America as required. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Procurement responsibility for direct materials (Chemicals) to support ASK operations in U.S. and Canada.
    • Conduct on-going raw material market analysis.  Interpret data and communicate meaningful market intelligence on supply/demand and pricing trends/forecasting etc., that could be potential threats or opportunities for the business. 
    • Accountable for developing procurement plans and implementing Commodity Strategies with defined tactics that deliver year-over-year cost reductions while collaborating with commodity/sourcing managers across multiple regions to assure alignment with ASK  procurement expectations and business needs.   
    • Drive continuous improvement opportunities, e.g. (lower direct material pricing, optimal trade payables, reduced sole sourced materials, cost avoidance, supplier on-time delivery and quality improvement etc.) measured by KPIs.
    • Conduct direct material contract/price negotiations for direct materials to support North America operations with the goal to assure materials are always delivered at the lowest total cost, in the correct quantity and at the right time.
    • Build/Develop strong supply partner relationships.
    • Continuous reporting and performance tracking as required.
    • Provide input to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies that is aligned with overall business plan and policies.
    • Accountable for compliance to corporate policies and relevant legislation.
    • Manage and keep SAP procurement records up-to-date at all times.
    • Provide timely communication as requested to cross-functional partners and management. 
    • Project and active management/ownership of assigned or emerging materials required by the business.
    • Perform other assign procurement duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education / Experience Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or logistics preferred; specific field may be substituted with equivalent experience
    • 5-10 years’ experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment, ideally chemical industry
    • 5-8 years procurement experience across various raw materials
    • In-depth knowledge of the petrochemical value chain in N America
    • Experience in Asia sourcing
    • Business Alignment: excellent communication skills allowing to translate supply market intelligence into relevant information for internal stakeholders
    • SAP Experience a must
    • Proficient with the complete MS Office Suite
