  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    1. Collecting & calculating timecards and other means of reporting payroll from remote locations and data entry into payroll/accounting system.

    2. Updating payroll records including new hires & terminations, exemptions, insurance coverage, job titles, department & division transfers.

    3. Reporting of appropriate workers comp and unemployment to various states.

    4. Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions & leave.

    5. Insure proper calculation of child support orders, garnishments and tax levies.

    6. Balance payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.

    7. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll.

    8. Develop, update & maintain payroll policies.

    9. Prepare various Certified Payroll Reports in a timely fashion.

    10. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearend tax documents that include but are not limited to W-2’s, 940’s, 941’s and various state and local items.

    11. Maintain and report to various Unions and CPA filings.

    12. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to payroll.

    13. Maintains and assists with audits.

    14. Establishes system controls for new payroll systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.

    15. Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.

    16. Maintains payroll calendar to ensure that government, regulatory and corporate activities occur within deadline

    17. Accounting Background to Include:

    a. Construction Accounting

    b. Payroll experience

    c. General ledger

    d. Familiar with tax and labor laws

    e. Familiar with GAAP

    1. Computer Skills

    a. Comfortable using or learning accounting software

    b. Working knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel)

    c. Basic computer and windows skills (95 or later)

    d. Working knowledge of word processor (use Word)

    e. Interested (willing) in learning, coordinating and supporting information systems and administrative support systems
