As the one who is accountable for preparing a design project to be successfully built, you will be at the nexus of the design-build process that sets us apart from our competition.

    You will take your appreciation for design and love for when a plan comes together and skillfully package projects for success in construction. You will refine your estimating skills and gain a deeper knowledge about the construction process. Most importantly, you will collaborate with a talented team of designers and makers and share in the enjoyment of a well-crafted product and well-managed process.

    Purpose

    The Project Developer is directly responsible for successfully shepherding projects from the design phase to the beginning of construction. With the support of the Production Manager, this position is responsible for all preliminary and updated cost estimating, including final pricing, as well as managing the project documents so that the construction team can successfully build the project.
    The Project Developer will coordinate with the design team and clients to ensure timely decisions are made on fixture, finish, and equipment selections to assure we are set up for success when we start construction.
    Once the construction is complete, you will regroup with the construction team to study the project and make necessary changes to project development procedures for future projects.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Support design team in early phases of design to build project budgets. May include outreach to subcontractors and vendors to procure budget pricing.

    • Work with Principal to develop initial construction cost in order to secure construction contract.

    • At completion of design process, update initial construction cost to final contract price, including procuring bids from subcontractors and vendors.

    • Work with design team to ensure the construction documents are complete for handoff to the construction team including the construction drawings, selections, scope of work, and permit documents.

    • Ensure current project documentation is uploaded to company project management software system and clients sign off on their approved selections.

    • With assistant from the Production Manager, develop and update project schedules and initial job cost information to hand off to the construction team.

    • Organize and run project handover meetings from design to construction.

    • Miscellaneous other duties as required, including supporting Project Manager when

      necessary.


    Position Requirements


    • Minimum five years in the residential design or construction field with some cost estimating experience or equivalent education.

    • Excellent communication, coordination, and organization skills

    • Must have a good working knowledge of related building trades and construction process

    • The ability to collaborate and communicate well with your co-workers and the client

     

    Hours

    The Project Developer hours are flexible and we support in the office, hybrid, and remote work environments.

    This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position paid on a weekly pay period. We offer holidays paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance benefits, 401k, and profit-sharing to employees who qualify.
