    Job Description

    .The Quality Assurance - Materials Engineer, will function as a staff engineer and will review and update a information related to all construction materials used on the GLX Project. This position will be responsible for sampling, testing and inspection oversight and audits at various plants, review of project documentation, preparing related correspondences, and monitoring the DB Entities compliance to both contract and internal procedural compliance in regard to material acceptability, control and traceability.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:      Assist the Program Quality Manager in investigating and reporting quality related material problems encountered in the field.      Participate in regular scheduled quality meetings.      Drive a company vehicle to visit work sites or vendors as needed.      Work any and all shifts as assigned or directed.      Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.      Prepares and complete surveillance inspection reports as it pertains to material control and monitoring, and any other work performed.     Perform site, plant and fabrication inspections as required.     Take part in material and fabricator audits as requested.     Request material verification testing for source and in place material control verification.      Review material documentation for conformance with MBTA and MassDot specifications including applicable code requirements.     Be aware of and monitor Buy America requirements for DB Entity compliance.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS     An Associate's degree in Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.       Two (2) years of field experience in the heavy construction industry.  Specific experience monitoring the quality of construction materials is highly desirable.     Effective quantitative, organizational and analytical skills.     The ability to travel in and out of state for site/plant/fabricator inspections as required.     The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with GLX quality staff, DB entity, and others on technical and sensitive matters.      The ability to successfully complete all required training.      The ability to pass: background screenings; a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check; and all medical requirements, including a physical examination if required and drug and alcohol screening.      Have excellent conflict resolution skills.      The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional demeanor.      Have a satisfactory work record including overall employment, job performance, discipline and safety records.      The ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.     The ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
