The role
The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll, benefit, and human resources activities including employment, termination and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Completes (and/or coordinates with outside vendors) all aspects of accurate payroll processing and tax reporting, ensuring timely submission of time records, answering employee questions, researching and/or resolving errors, and maintaining required reports and documents.
- On-boards new hires, providing basic information on policies and benefits, completing benefits enrollment paperwork and confirming proper documentation of employment eligibility, etc.
- Functions as a liaison between the company, employees, broker, and insurance carriers to answer benefits program questions and providing assistance in resolution of escalated issues; coordinates annual open enrollment and tracks eligibility of staff during and post-employment.
- Ensures timely distribution of compliance-related communications and completion of various regulatory reporting requirements.
- Acts as liaison between company, employees, and insurance company to ensure the timely processing of workers' compensation claims.
- Completes forms and acts on behalf of the company at unemployment compensation hearings.
- Maintain consolidated individual personnel/payroll files and other confidential records in accordance with record retention guidelines.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, human resources, business, or equivalent relevant work experience. CPP or FPC certification preferred.
- Five (5) years' experience in payroll ; Timekeeping; human resources in a generalist role
- Payroll experience on ADP system required
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software required.
